Lighthouse Lab Services is excited to represent a laboratory in Boca Raton, FL seeking a Laboratory Supervisor for their new lab!
About the lab : This new lab will support a group of established wellness clinics with a battery of testing panels.
About the position : In this role you will be instrumental in bringing the lab from conception to “go live” including but not limited to setting up all testing protocols, validating instrumentation, and apply for and securing required lab licenses for compliance with state and federal requirements. After the lab is live you will run tests and oversee all lab personnel and operations.
Position Overview :
- Select test methodologies appropriate for the test menu.
- Verify test procedures and the establish performance criteria for new assays.
- Perform all test validations.
- Manage laboratory and processes to ensure day-to-day operations follow internal standard operating procedures and regulatory standards of CLIA and CAP.
- Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient results.
- Maintain records which demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
- Manage technical staff schedules, ensuring compliance with scheduling policies and practices.
- Supervise staff, assigning work, monitoring activities, and evaluating daily performance.
- Identify training needs and ensure that testing personnel receive regular in-service training.
- Evaluate the competency of all testing personnel through regular peer reviews.
- Communicate with other departments to coordinate and resolve issues as needed.
- Ensure that patient results are not reported until test systems are functioning properly, and corrective actions have been taken.
- Perform Quality Assurance management, to include acceptable levels of analytical performance and ensure that these levels are maintained through the testing process.
- Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies and documenting all QC activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and instrument maintenance.
- Resolve technical problems and ensure that remedial and corrective actions are taken when deviations occur.
- Actively participate in Performance Improvement initiatives to identify and improve overall quality and services.
- Conduct regularly scheduled laboratory meetings and provide follow up information and actions.
- Inventory management and control.
- Writing and revising SOPs.
- Demonstrate proficient use of the Laboratory Information System and updating and revising system as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
