Calling all Blood Bank Specialists! Lighthouse Lab Services is thrilled to be partnering with an established clinical laboratory in Houston, Texas. We are looking for a Temporary Transfusion Specialist for the Blood Bank lab. This role requires expertise in high-complexity testing and transfusion science, ensuring top-tier patient care and regulatory compliance.

Technical and Operational Excellence
- Maintain competency in all test methods, computer functions, and assigned tasks.
- Ensure quality control data is appropriate for the complexity of reported tests and workflow adherence.
- Complete, verify, and report testing promptly, ensuring compliance with safety guidelines and regulatory mandates.
- Oversee proficiency testing, including receipt, completion, and submission.
- Assist with equipment and test validation, new software implementation, and database updates.
- Lead onboarding and training for new staff, ensuring completion of initial, six-month, and annual competency assessments.
- Manage staff schedules, timecards, and productivity while promoting a positive and cohesive team culture.
- Coach and mentor staff, fostering career development and supporting psychological safety and well-being.
- Address staff concerns and collaborate with leadership to uphold core institutional values.
- Monitor and improve workflow efficiency and turnaround times.
- Participate in and lead process improvement projects, applying Lean methodology to optimize resources.
- Serve as an expert resource for transfusion medicine protocols and assist with interdepartmental collaboration.
- Stay informed and compliant with all regulatory standards related to transfusion medicine.
- Ensure all policies, procedures, and protocols are followed and updated as necessary.
- Actively participate in safety initiatives and adhere to institutional attendance and work policies.
