We are currently seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineer in Thomaston, CT.

Position Summary and Special Duties

As a Manufacturing Process Engineer, your day-to-day responsibilities will include, but are not limited to :

Purpose

This position provides process engineering technical direction to the Product Sustainment Group and supported manufacturing functions.

Essential Functions

Planning / Organizing

Develop and maintain detailed work instructions, job travelers, and manufacturing process documentation to ensure accuracy and consistency in production.
Analyze and improve existing manufacturing processes for efficiency, cost reduction, and quality control.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with manufacturing and industrial standards.

Process Improvement

Lead initiatives to standardize and streamline the manufacturing process to support production goals.

Identify bottlenecks in production workflows and propose effective solutions to resolve them.

Implement best practices in process documentation and control to enhance overall productivity.

Support & Troubleshooting

Provide hands-on support to the production floor to address issues with assembly, testing, and quality assurance.

Troubleshoot process-related issues and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.

Assist with the integration of new processes or equipment into the production line.

Documentation & Reporting

Create and maintain accurate manufacturing documentation, including process flow diagrams, SOPs, and production logs.

Ensure that all job travelers and work instructions are aligned with customer specifications and industry standards.

Report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to manufacturing processes and improvements.

Accountability

Reports to the Sustainment Engineering Manager and collaborates with other internal departments to ensure successful execution of manufacturing processes.

Keeps the manager informed of progress, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.

Education / Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering (or related field).

3-5 years of experience in manufacturing or process engineering, preferably with rotating machinery or related equipment.

Proven expertise in creating work instructions, travelers, and process documentation.

Working knowledge of CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) and process improvement tools.

Strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and LEAN manufacturing principles.

Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
