Behavioral Health Specialist - Night Shift
Schedule (12 hour shifts): 7pm - 7am
Within a standard 2 week pay period you will have every other Fri. / Sat. / Sun. off. You will have 7 of 14 days off during all pay periods.
Be part of a team providing innovative life changing residential care to youth in need. The Behavioral Health Specialist utilizes their unique skills and understanding of trauma and mental health to provide direct care to teenage youth in a residential setting. They work as a member of an interdisciplinary team to provide comprehensive service delivery. The Behavioral Health Specialist plays a crucial role by providing and monitoring therapeutic interventions, engaging youth in treatment programing and in motivating a positive peer culture. They are consistent in demonstrating therapeutic communication, unconditional positive regard and empathy during all interactions with youth and their families. This treatment center is a 24/7 residential facility for adolescent males.
Starting Hourly Range: $16.92 - $21.15
$1,000 Sign-On Bonus
Essential Functions
- Engages, inspires, and facilitates meaningful engagement with youth, assisting them to explore, create, and meet their own goals.
- Implementation of program goals and objectives to promote a strengths-based, youth-centered approach to assisting residents in achieving individual goals and ultimately transitioning to a less restrictive setting.
- Responsible for supervising youth while maintaining a safe and productive environment at all times.
- Be willing to seek to understand youths unique circumstances, personal preferences and goals and incorporate them into daily activities as well as any needed crisis response to help them regain a sense of control.
- Provide individual and group skill training, supervision and support in areas such as self-care, hygiene, community resources, and other life skills as directed by the mental health service plans.
- Provide therapeutic interventions with residents as required and directed by individualized service plans and complete all subsequent documentation.
- In collaboration with clinical staff and clients, formulate, implements and evaluates client care objectives
- Consistently utilizes trauma informed language and a strength-based approach to assist our young men and women to reach their fullest potential
- Complete documentation in an electronic health record (EHR) as required using CareLogic software.
- Facilitate community outings and structured activities as directed.
- Coordinate with oncoming shift regarding resident concerns, building/program needs, and any relevant issues to ensure the smooth operation of the program.
- Attend seminars, training, and other educational opportunities in order to develop and advance professional skills and abilities.
- Participate in all scheduled staff meetings, supervision sessions, and other departmental and agency meetings.

Required Education and Experience:
1. High School diploma/GED.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Associates or higher degree.
- At least 1 year of experience in serving at risk youth or in a residential program.
- A background or college courses in education, social work, or psychology.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
- CPR / First Aid certified.
- Ability to handle physical activities, including recreational activities
- Good driving record
