Summary: Responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in designated business units. The position formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization. The HRBP maintains an effective level of business literacy about the business unit's financial position, its midrange plans, its culture, and its competition.
Essential Functions:
- Acts as an internal consultant on human resource issues for assigned service area.
- Manages/resolves complex employee relations issues with effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
- Analyzes trends/metrics in partnership with the team to develop solutions, programs, and policies.
- Handles full cycle recruitment for assigned service area including new hire orientation and onboarding.
- Performs benefits administration, including claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment and communicating benefits information to employees.
- Provides performance management guidance to line management (e.g., development, disciplinary actions).
- Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, increase/maintain employee engagement, and increase productivity and retention.
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal as needed/required.
- Prepares and maintains special internal and external reports. Analyzes trends, data, and metrics with the HR team and/or the leadership team to provide recommendations, develop solutions, programs and policies.
- Develops, revises, implements, and provides guidance and interpretation of HR policies and procedures.
- Ensures role descriptions are up to date and reflective of the role.
- Provides guidance and input on business unit restructuring, workforce planning and succession planning.
- Participates in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success. Follows up to ensure training objectives are met. Identifies and presents training needs for business units and individual coaching needs.
- Ensures program or section area follows other established policies and procedures and with any relevant federal, state or local legislation by conducting periodic audits of human resource activities.
- Responsible for all audit compliance requirements are met i.e. CARF and ODJFS.
- Attends/Participates in professional development meetings, conferences, sessions, seminars, etc.
- Leads/works on special and cross-functional projects and/or teams.
- Represents the company for any unemployment claims.

Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.
Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment and at the satellite offices. This role has hybrid work options which involve both remote and in-office work. Specific in-office days will be determined in coordination with the team and the needs of the business. This can change or be altered by the manager at any time. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, multi-functional printers, and filing cabinets.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen. This position is mostly sedentary but also involves standing, walking; using hands to finger, push, pulling, handling or feeling; and reaching with hands and arms. Must be able to lift to 30 lbs.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the core work hours. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel: This position will require some travel depending on the business need.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field.
- Minimum of three (3) years of resolving complex employee relations issues.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Four (4) years of professional-level experience in human resources.
- HRCI or SHRM professional certification.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
1. Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee and union relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws.
