Job Overview :
We’re seeking an Experienced Electrical Estimator with strong technical expertise to join our team. In this role, you will lead detailed cost estimations for specialized projects including sports field lighting, roadway traffic signals, government RFPs / ITBs (Request for Proposals / Invitations to Bid), and general electrical service work. This position is perfect for a detail-oriented professional who can analyze complex project specifications while communicating effectively with clients and team members. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare Detailed Estimates : Review blueprints, specifications, and project documents (including government RFPs and ITBs) to calculate materials, labor, and equipment costs for sports lighting, traffic signal installations, and other electrical projects.
- Quantity Take-Offs : Perform accurate take-offs for wiring, fixtures, panels, poles, and related components. Ensure no detail is missed in high-profile projects like stadium lighting or municipal traffic systems.
- Bid & Proposal Management : Develop comprehensive bid proposals and RFP responses, meeting all technical requirements and deadlines . This includes writing clear scope-of-work summaries and ensuring compliance with government bid specifications.
- Vendor & Subcontractor Coordination : Solicit and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors for specialized equipment (e.g., lighting poles, signal hardware). Collaborate with vendors to secure competitive pricing and confirm material availability.
- Cost Analysis & Value Engineering : Analyze project costs and suggest value engineering options where appropriate, balancing quality and cost-effectiveness. Maintain an up-to-date cost database for materials and labor rates to streamline future estimates.
- Collaboration & Communication : Work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to clarify project needs and adjust estimates if project scopes change. Provide technical insights during project planning meetings and assist in project scheduling based on your estimates.
- Site Visits & Inspections : Occasionally attend site visits or pre-bid meetings to gain first-hand understanding of project conditions (e.g., verifying existing electrical infrastructure for retrofit projects or new service work).
- Industry Compliance : Ensure all estimates adhere to electrical codes, safety standards, and industry best practices. Account for permitting, inspections, and any special requirements specific to sports venues or traffic control systems.
