Job Overview
Are you detail-oriented, analytical, and interested in a career in estimating? We are looking for a Junior Electrical Estimator to join our team! No prior estimating experience is required—just a willingness to learn, a strong work ethic, and an interest in the electrical industry.
In this role, you will assist in preparing cost estimates for projects, reviewing project plans, and working on government contract bidding (RFPs and ITBs). This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the electrical estimating field with guidance from experienced professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in reviewing blueprints, specifications, and project documents to develop cost estimates for electrical projects.
- Perform quantity take-offs for materials such as wiring, lighting fixtures, and electrical components.
- Support the development of bid proposals and responses to government Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Invitations to Bid (ITBs).
- Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing and verify material availability.
- Learn to analyze costs and explore value engineering options to optimize project budgets.
- Work closely with project managers and senior estimators to refine estimates based on project requirements.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and occasional site visits to better understand project conditions.
- Ensure all estimates align with electrical codes, safety standards, and industry best practices.
Qualifications & Skills
- No prior estimating experience required – we will train the right candidate!
- Interest in electrical construction, estimating, or project management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans (or a willingness to learn).
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook; experience with estimating software is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- A self-motivated and team-oriented attitude.
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required but a Plus)
- Education in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Some experience in construction, electrical work, or project coordination.
- Familiarity with government contracts or bidding processes.
