Position: Benefits Manager
Position reports to the Director of Human Resources

Job Type: Full-Time
Pay Range: $80,000 to $115,000 yearly
Job Description
We are currently looking for a Benefits Manager – HR Administration to support and drive HR and operations excellence. The primary function of the Manager is to coordinate HR policies and programs with emphasis on Benefits, ensuring that the organization is in full compliance with applicable laws and regulations. In addition, the position works closely with the Director of Human Resources in developing, implementing, and evaluating ongoing HR policies, programs, functions, and activities.
Responsibilities
- Administer various benefits programs, such as group health, flexible spending accounts, dental and vision, accident and disability, life insurance, and 401(k).
- Assures all company-sponsored plans, including their design and changes thereto, are in compliance with all relevant legal and ERISA reporting and disclosure requirements.
- Conduct benefits orientations and explain benefits self-enrollment process.
- Acts as a liaison with carriers, vendors and consultants on various matters such as plan design, contract negotiations, coverage and renewals.
- Works with payroll to ensure data and deduction integrity.
- Performs contribution reconciliation for all health and welfare plans, voluntary benefit programs, and defined contribution plan.
- Maintain employee filing systems and ensure benefits changes are entered appropriately in payroll system for payroll deduction.
- Assist employees with health, dental, life, and other related benefit claims.
- Verify the calculation of the monthly premium statements for all group insurance policies and maintain statistical data relative to premiums, claims, and costs. Resolve administrative problems with the carrier representatives.
- Administer COBRA.
- Review and respond to unemployment claims with appropriate documentation. Review monthly unemployment statements.
- Coordinate workers’ compensation claims with third party administrator. Follow up on claims.
- Assist HR Director in obtaining statistics and information in renewal process of any health, life and retirement plans that benefit the company.
- Prepare and set up meetings designed to help employees obtain information and understand company benefits and other related incentive programs. Ensure distribution of required employee notices.
- Assist the HR Director in the daily administration of other HR services as directed or assigned, including recruitment and selection, promotions, transfers, contract negotiation and administration, EEO compliance, job classification, performance evaluation, and employee relations in accordance with quality management principles and overall objectives of the organization.
- Leads deployment and adoption of any new technology to enhance processes in line with HR and employee experience priorities.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Advanced knowledge of Paylocity HRIS.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Extensive knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- A strong desire to learn and grow in a young, dynamic company.
- Displays passion and drive in all assigned tasks.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Three years of experience in human resources or related field.
- SHRM certification preferred.
- Prior payroll and benefits management experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
