Position: Electrician Apprentice
Position reports to Showroom Manager
Job Location: Showroom - 215 W Chicago Ave Chicago, IL 60654
Job Type: Full-Time TEMP (1-2 MONTHS)
Pay Rate: $23.00 to $27.00 an Hour
We are looking for an experienced Electrician Apprentice to undertake a variety of electrical tasks. Your job will involve installing electrical wiring, and working in the R&D department hanging and testing lighting fixtures and troubleshooting malfunctions.
Due to the high amount of risk pertaining to this job, the Electrician Apprentice must be first and foremost a responsible individual with great attention to safety precautions. The ideal candidate must also be experienced in different kinds of electrical devices and systems. Experience with low-voltage systems and dry-walling is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Installs and repairs electrical wiring, systems, and fixtures in buildings.
- Installs conduits and pipes to house electrical wires and cables.
- Ensures piping complies with electrical codes.
- Installs circuit breakers and other electrical hardware and connects wiring to them.
- Tests electrical systems to ensure proper installation and operation.
- Inspects electrical systems to determine whether repairs are needed.
- Replaces conduit and wiring as needed.
- Replaces circuit breakers as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Technical knowledge of electrical and lighting products.
- Minimum 3 years of electrical experience
- Ability to use electrical and hand tools (e.g. wire strippers, voltmeter etc.) and electrical drawings and blueprints
- Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and legal regulations and guidelines
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving ability
- Must be able to see color to discern color-coded wiring.
- Prolonged periods standing, kneeling, bending, and climbing ladders or scaffolding.
- Must be physically capable of pulling wires and cables through conduits.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
