Position: Showroom Lighting Consultant
Position reports to the Showroom Manager
Job Location: Chicago, IL
Job Type: Full-Time
Pay Rate: $50,000 to $75,000
The Lighting Sales Consultant will provide sales and consulting services to trade/design customers, industry partners, and retail clients. This individual will communicate with customers, and internal departments on an ongoing basis to provide the highest-possible level of service to clients, to complete customer transactions, and to help resolve customer questions and problems. This position is focused on the creation/development of a book of business through a focus on high-impact activities and interactions with current and potential clients.
Responsibilities
- Bring your passion for design and lighting to our sales floor.
- Provide lighting consultation services to in-store customers and assist them with the services needed to close a sale.
- Assist clients over the phone with lighting recommendations and purchases.
- Establish, grow, and maintain a strong client group based on in-store and over-the-phone consultations.
- Initiate and grow a strong interpersonal relationship with sales assistants, customer service staff, and members of other internal departments.
- Maintain open communications with clients regarding the status of orders, and resolutions to any problems that may arise during the completion of transactions.
- Follow all security and other operational procedures for both IT systems and the point-of-sale environment.
- Provide recommendations to improve the showroom and showroom environment.
- Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- Sales experience in lighting and/or design would be ideal, but a sales background in a fast-paced retail or wholesale environment is required.
- 1 years of lighting experience OR 3 or more years of experience in a custom/design specification sales environment (i.e.: residential/commercial furnishings)
- Successful project completion track record, understanding of the design and/or specification process with the ability to demonstrate written, verbal, and design skills
- Bachelor’s or Master's degree in lighting with an emphasis on design is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Some knowledge of lighting or electrical products.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
