What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavioral Health Technician position at LIGHTSHARE BEHAVIORAL WELLNESS & RECOVERY?
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for assisting Nursing Staff and the treatment team with all aspects of mental health and/or substance abuse services to adults at the Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU). Maintain light laundry duties and ensure client and work areas are clean and in order. This position reports directly to the Director of Nursing.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires a High School Diploma or GED. Six months to one year of experience in a behavioral healthcare setting, preferred.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITES:
- Effectively works with members of Treatment Team in planning and providing a safe and therapeutic environment for clients.
- Effectively assist with basic client care needs such as hygiene, eating and other activities of daily living
- Accurately completes and documents Q15 minute safety checks on all shifts. During the 11:00pm and 7:00am shift, the client checks include bed checks.
- Completes unit checks at the beginning and end of shift.
- Demonstrates proficiency in completing and recording client vital signs.
- Obtains urine specimens as assigned using appropriate techniques for collection.
- Effectively promotes client safety and wellness via therapeutic, non-enabling approaches
- Accurately completes unit based documentation such as census reports
- Accurately completes and documents search and seizure information
- Effectively and safely uses TEAM de-escalation skills and TEAM physical aggression intervention skills when needed
- Provides light laundry duties as needed
- Computer Literacy
- Completes all training requirements in a timely manner
- Completes all other duties and special projects as assigned
