What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field RN - Registry position at Lightways Hospice and Serious Illness Care?
Founded in 1982 as Joliet Area Community Hospice, Lightways Hospice and Serious Illness is an independent, non-profit healthcare provider licensed in 11 counties in northwest Illinois. We have a state-of-the-art facility and the first free standing in-patient Hospice Home in Illinois. We have a 35 year history for providing compassionate professional care to terminally ill patients and their families. We are state licensed and Medicare/Medicaid certified.
We are currently seeking Registry RN's to care for our patients residing in their private home, nursing home or long term care facility. This position will be for the northern counties (Cook, McHenry).
This position works a flexible schedule with minimum of four shifts per month, with 2 of those shifts falling on a Saturday or Sunday. The successful candidate can work additional hours, over and above the minimum of four shifts per month. This is a float position that is responsible for providing skilled nursing intervention and supportive care in patients' homes, nursing homes or long-term care facilities. This RN administers medications and treatments as prescribed by the physician and plan of care, assist with referrals & admissions when needed. Also assists the patient with the activities of daily living and facilitates the patient's efforts toward self-sufficiency and optimal comfort.
Requirements include RN with a minimum of one (1) year nursing experience in the area of public health, home care or hospice nursing preferred. Incumbent must be self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision. Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state or organization requirements and is in good working order.
This is a non-benefit position.
