About the role
The OSP (Outside Plant) Field Service Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of Ripple Fiber equipment in accordance with customer requirements, and company standards. OSP Field Service Technicians are also responsible for ensuring that customers receive the highest level of customer service.
Responsibilities:
- Installation of fiber optic cables, including running cables through conduits, splicing them, and connecting them to network equipment.
- Precisely aligning and fusing the ends of fiber cables to ensure minimal signal loss and optimal performance.
- Use specialized equipment to test the integrity of fiber optic connections, check signal strength, and identify any issues.
- Perform routine maintenance and upgrades to ensure the fiber optic network continues to operate efficiently.
- Work closely with other technicians, engineers, and project managers to ensure that fiber optic installations and repairs meet company standards and customer requirements.
- Follow safety protocols to handle fiber optic cables and related equipment properly.
Skills Required & Physical Demands:
- Must have a valid state driver’s license and safe driving record
- Ability to operate hand tools and handheld mobile devices
- Experience working in customer service, construction, electrical, technical or related field is a plus
- Clean driving record
- Work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
- Lift and move up-to 60 lbs. – some of our ladders weigh 50-60 lbs.
- At times work in small spaces or a loft (up to 28 ft.)
- Identify wire and cable colors
- Qualify on pre-employment assessments
- Be available for overtime, emergency call outs and holiday work
- Weigh less than 275 lbs., required for ladder safety
