Lycée International de Houston is seeking a High School Science Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. The teacher will be responsible for delivering instruction in a variety of high school science subjects, following the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards. Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or Higher in Science Education or a related field (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science, etc.).
- Teaching certification in the state of Texas, with knowledge of TEKS standards.
- At least five years of teaching experience in a high school setting.
- Experience teaching multiple science subjects to different grade levels.
- Familiarity with international or bilingual education settings.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is highly desirable.
- Teach a range of high school science courses, including but not limited to Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Environmental Systems.
- Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans that align with TEKS standards, ensuring academic rigor and student success.
- Design and supervise hands-on laboratory experiments to enhance practical understanding of scientific concepts.
- Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners, including ELL (English Language Learners) and gifted students.
- Strong understanding of lab safety protocols and hands-on laboratory instruction.
- Proficiency in integrating technology and digital tools into the curriculum.
- Assess and evaluate student performance through various methods, including formative and summative assessments, projects, and labs.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and communicate their progress with parents/guardians.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure consistency and integration within the Science Department.
- Maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning, with clear expectations for behavior and academic performance.
- Stay informed about advancements in science education and integrate innovative teaching techniques.
- Support students in preparing for standardized tests and college readiness.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and school-wide events.
- Fulfill additional duties such as supervising extracurricular activities, supporting science fairs, and contributing to cross-curricular initiatives.
- Participate in faculty, departmental, and curriculum meetings as scheduled by the Head of School.
- Contribute to school-wide events such as open houses, parent meetings, field trips, fairs, and festivals.
- Collaborate with colleagues to create a cohesive educational experience.
- Ability to monitor and manage student discipline and progress actively.
- Capable of moving about the classroom to engage students and facilitate activities.
- Physically able to lift and carry light classroom materials as needed.
- This is a full-time position requiring a minimum of 40 hours per week on campus.
