Lycée International de Houston Elementary Section is expanding and seeking a Lower Elementary English Homeroom Teacher (KG-3rd Grade) for the 2025-2026 School Year. This position requires knowledge of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) curriculum. At Lycée International de Houston, our mission is to nurture multilingual, academically, and socially prepared students to become leaders and positively impact their communities. Minimum Requirements
- BA or equivalent in English, Education, or a related field (preferred).
- Knowledge of and experience teaching the TEKS curriculum.
- Three years of teaching experience in an elementary school (Grades K-5 preferred).
- ESL Certification (preferred).
- Native-level English proficiency.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Positivity, open-mindedness, and adaptability in a multicultural environment.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
- Basic computer skills, including email systems, Microsoft Word, and online teaching platforms.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
- Teaching and Instruction
- Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with the TEKS curriculum.
- Teach core subjects, including English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies, at the lower elementary level.
- Differentiate instruction to accommodate the needs of English as an Additional Language (EAL) students.
- Classroom Management
- Create a nurturing, engaging, and structured learning environment.
- Use effective classroom management strategies to foster respect, collaboration, and productivity.
- Student Progress and Development
- Monitor and assess student progress using formative and summative assessment tools.
- Communicate student achievements and challenges regularly with parents and guardians.
- Collaboration and Professional Development
- Work collaboratively with grade-level team members to align instructional goals and share resources.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
- Community and School Engagement
- Participate in school-wide events, including open houses, parent-teacher meetings, field trips, fairs, and exhibitions.
- Contribute to extracurricular duties such as carpool supervision, lunch and recess monitoring, and after-school study hall support.
- Ability to monitor and manage student discipline and progress actively.
- Capable of moving about the classroom to engage students and facilitate activities.
- Physically able to lift and carry light classroom materials as needed.
- This is a full-time position requiring a minimum of 40 hours per week on campus.
