Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field preferred).
- Previous experience in a classroom or educational setting (preferred).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Positivity, open-mindedness, and adaptability to a multicultural environment.
- Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues and diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Basic proficiency in computer skills (e.g., email, word processing).
- Proficiency in English; knowledge of French is a plus but not required.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the lead teacher in implementing lesson plans and activities aligned with the school curriculum.
- Support students individually or in small groups to reinforce learning and understanding of material.
- Prepare classroom materials and resources as directed by the lead teacher.
- Supervise students during transitions, recess, lunch, and other non-instructional times to ensure their safety.
- Assist during students’ nap time.
- Provide support for students with diverse needs, including EAL (English as an Additional Language) or FLE (French as a Foreign Language) learners.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to plan and execute classroom activities, events, and special projects.
- Assist with maintaining a clean, organized, and safe classroom setting.
- Provide administrative support, such as grading simple assignments, organizing student files, or managing attendance records.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events as needed.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff when required.
- Ability to monitor and manage student discipline and progress actively.
- Capable of moving about the classroom to engage students and facilitate activities.
- Physically able to lift and carry light classroom materials as needed.
- This is a full-time position requiring a minimum of 40 hours per week on campus.
- Regular school hours, with occasional evening or weekend events.
