The director is responsible for the overall smooth running of the center's operations, the safety and cleanliness of the building, playground, room environments and maintaining a competent and well-trained staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Recruit, and interview staff. Provide orientation for new staff which includes reviewing their job description, staff policies, and policies of the center.
- Recruit children, process applications, place children, maintain children's records and maintain maximum enrollment. Inform parents of the center's policies and procedures.
- Coordinate and implement educational curriculum by developing classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards.
- Plan individual and group age-appropriate activities to actively engage children and encourage social, cognitive and emotional growth.
- Supervise the programs on an ongoing basis in all classrooms. Observe and evaluate programs, act as a resource person for teachers and provide in-service training as needed for staff development.
- Scheduling staff hours and monitor the requests for personal time. Also, make sure appropriate staff to child rations are being met.
- Keep open lines of communication with staff to build a supportive team.
- Communicating with parents regarding their child's progress and development.
- Address parent concerns and complaints.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with parents, community organizations and licensing agencies.
- Plan monthly staff meetings and attend trainings.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Ensure all center policies and state regulations are met.
