Overview
We are seeking reliable, friendly, and energetic individuals to join our seasonal farmers market team. In this position you will create a welcoming and enjoyable experience for our customers and ensure the smooth operation of the market. This role requires excellent customer service skills, attention to detail, and a passion for local food and community engagement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Customer Service: Greet and assist market customers, answer questions about the farm, products, and special sales/promotions.
- Market Operations: Monitor the market environment to ensure a clean, safe, and organized atmosphere. Assist in setting up tables, tents, signs, and other market items.
- Payment & Transactions: Facilitate sales by collecting payments for goods from customers (cash, card, SNAP).
- Promotions & Engagement: Promote market specials, monthly product promotions and upcoming events at our Home Farm.
DUTIES:
- Arriving at our farm in Holden to load a market vehicle with supplies and then arriving at the market an hour in advance to set up before the market opens.
- Packing/Loading/Unloading vehicle for market and driving to the market.
- Setting up, and breaking down market displays.
- Filling out market logs accurately.
- Providing management with feedback regarding the market and customers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have a valid drivers license and be comfortable driving a van in the Boston area.
- Previous experience in customer service or retail is a plus.
- Punctuality and reliability is a must
- Strong communication skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to problem solve.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Must be able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a team or independently.
- Interest in local food, agriculture, and supporting small businesses is highly desirable.
SCHEDULE: Thursdays from 7:30 am to 7:00 pm. This position allows for shifts to be picked up on Wednesdays and Saturdays when other staff members aren’t available. Those shifts range in time but fall between the hours of 7:30 am to 7:00 pm.
COMPENSATION: This position starts at $17 an hour with the ability to earn bonuses and commission throughout the market season.
