**Job Title: Direct Care Staff (Foster Care)**
**Overview:**
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Youth Behavioral Specialist to join our team, focusing on supporting youth aged 7-18 with behavior problems within the foster care system. This position plays a crucial role in providing structured guidance, therapeutic intervention, and emotional support to empower these young individuals to thrive despite their challenging circumstances.
**Responsibilities:**
- Develop and implement behavior management plans tailored to each youth's needs, in collaboration with case managers, social workers, and other professionals.
- transport clients to individual and group counseling sessions to help youth develop coping skills, improve self-esteem, and address trauma-related issues.
- Facilitate therapeutic activities and recreational programs that promote social skills development and positive peer interactions.
- Collaborate with foster families, biological families, and caregivers to ensure consistency in behavior management techniques and support strategies.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of progress notes, incident reports, and treatment plans in compliance with agency policies and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to review progress, address challenges, and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
**Qualifications:**
(1) year of documented experience working with children or youth in one of or a combination of the following settings: — State licensed in-home or facility-based daycare, or professional nanny; — School setting or early learning center; — Mental Health Hospital; — Juvenile Rehabilitation facility, detention center, law enforcement, or corrections; — A child placing agency, residential care program, or as a licensed foster parent; — Conducting supervised visits; and — Working as staff directly with children or families in a community service organization. OR • Associate’s Degree in Human Services or related field, or two (2) years of completed coursework toward
- Proven experience working with youth in foster care, particularly those with behavioral challenges or trauma histories.
- Strong understanding of child development, behavioral disorders, and therapeutic interventions.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations, demonstrating empathy and patience.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and best practices in child welfare and foster care services.
