Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Ceramic Arts Coordinator to lead our ceramics program aimed at fostering social emotional growth for Native Hawaiian youth. This role involves coordinating ceramic camps and after school programs that emphasize emotional regulation, creative expression, and connection primarily through the medium of ceramics, while also integrating other art forms. The ideal candidate will have a background in ceramics and art education, strong communication skills, and a commitment to empowering youth through creative experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program Coordination:
    • Focuses on growing the ceramics program in collaboration with ranch director and staff.
    • Involved in visioning, planning, execution, and assessment/feedback processes.
    • Example of responsibilities: Attending program meetings, creating camp class structures, contributing to curriculum assessment and development, designing syllabi for thematic projects and classes, communicating with the program director and teammates for collaborative initiatives, and handling program-related administration such as registration.


  • Ceramic Studio Management - Oversee the LT ceramic studio and equipment operations, as well as studio maintenance and organization.
    • Responsible for managing ceramic studio operations and maintenance while collaborating with program coordinators, directors, and staff to support program activities and development.
    • Engaged in program execution and assessment/feedback processes.
    • Examples of tasks include daily studio maintenance, conducting orientation sessions for students and staff, managing materials and supplies, and overseeing inventory and procurement.


  • Ceramics/Art Instruction- Provide instruction for the LT ceramics and art program.
    • Focused on teaching, preparing, and assisting in curriculum development for camps, events, and other activities.
    • Integrate ranch pillars into programs for ʻōpio, emphasizing key social-emotional skills to foster personal growth and healing.
    • Involved in program execution and assessment/feedback.
    • Examples of responsibilities include preparing course syllabi and communicating with program staff to address materials and supply needs.
Qualifications

  • Background in ceramics, art education, or a related field.
  • Experience teaching or facilitating youth programs.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Passion for youth development, cultural sensitivity, and a commitment to fostering emotional well-being.

Hours and Compensation

This is a full-time position requiring a minimum of 40 hours per week and up to 40 hours during weeklong camp programs. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
