About Lydia House

Lydia House (LH), LLC from Lili’uokalani Trust, is directly overseen by the LT Board of Trustees, acting as Board of Directors. LH serves youth and young adults (YYA) 16 to 26 y/o experiencing high risk factors and involvement in systems of care. The Center supports YYAs low barrier access to basic needs services with a youth-centered approach. LH aims to meet basic needs stabilization and support YYAs who choose to move towards thriving. This center strongly roots its work in Hawaiian values and healing centered approach, with heightened focus elevating the strengths and innate values of all YYAs, regardless of past experiences and present environment. The Center operates through its engagement center to meet all basic needs. LH also provides an opportunity of a Thriving Supportive Program (TSP), an intensive case management project. TSP supports re-entry into education and workforce, including opportunity for financial and housing support. LH maintains 40 beds in 18 dorms, to provide on campus stability to qualified YA (18 and up) enrolled in TSP and actively engaged to reach youth’s thriving goal plan.

Job Purpose

The Thriving Supportive Program Resident Advisor supports creating a welcoming and safe environment for young adults who access the dorms services at the Thriving Supportive Program (TSP) for Lydia House. The RA encourages building pilina and provides mentorship, ease in transitioning to the dorm life, managing overnight needs of the young adults. This position will oversee any emerging social emotional needs, providing possible activities, guidance, and application of guidelines and regulations, while managing conflict.

This position is an overnight full-time position on a rotation basis. This rotation consists of 4 days on and 4 days off schedule. Shifts are projected as: 6pm-2am and 1am-9am.

Essential Responsibilities

Thriving Supportive Program Dorms

• Promote a welcoming and trauma informed environment.
• Address any immediate basic needs, including social emotional, mentorship, or supportive activities for young adults as needed.
• Sets and supports alignment to rules established in the Aloha Agreement.
• Work along security on premises, and with manager on call, to manage respond to any urgent need.
• Monitor and deescalate any conflict which may arise.
• Observes, collects, communicates, and reports daily any events in data management system.
• Contributes to young adults' success in their “thriving” goals.
• Other duties as required.

• Contributes to the Trustʻs success by accepting new assignments, helping team members, learning new skills, and striving to improves team and organization results.
  
  

Qualifications

• A high school diploma; preferably presently enrolled in a related degree (education, public health, social work, psychology, etc.)
• Interest and/or some experience in working with young adults in a residential setting ;
• Knowledge or desire to learn best youth practices (positive youth development) and the ability to selfcare and work with developing age young adults.
  
  

Licenses or Certifications

• Valid driver license, clean traffic abstract.
• Required to have a TB clearance.
• First Aid and CPR/AED Certification preferred.

Travel Requirements

• In alignment with our organizational competencies of Alu Like I ka Hana (Teamwork) and Ho`omau i ka `imi Na`auao (Continuous Learning and Improvement), this position will require occasional travel across the island, inter-island, and out-of-state depending on the needs of the team and the organization. While travel may not always be a need, the ability to travel when required remains a crucial aspect of this position in order to successfully contribute to our concerted efforts to carry out our Queen’s legacy.

Mental And Physical Demands

• Perform light physical work, including climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and lifting weight of up to 25 pounds. Exposed to outdoor climate and diverse terrain.
