Job Purpose

We are seeking a visual designer to join our Communications and Marketing team as a Graphic Design Specialist . This individual translates ideas into brand-aligned and visually compelling graphics and should have a strong background in visual storytelling. The ideal candidate will have a broad range of design experience, including print and digital, brochure and collateral design, signage, and creating visuals for social media. This role will focus on supporting LT’s initiatives by creating and editing graphics for program recruitment, presentations, annual reports, research documents, and more.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Develop and produce high-quality graphic designs for print and digital media.
  • Collaborate with various teammates and departments to understand design needs.
  • Deliver creative solutions and visually appealing content for program recruitment, social media, websites, newsletters, and other platforms.
  • Under the direction of the Manager, Communications and Marketing, oversee brand management efforts, ensuring all visual assets, including print and digital materials, adhere to LT’s brand guidelines and maintain a consistent look and feel across all platforms, and reflect the values and mission of the Trust.
  • Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and maintaining a high standard of work.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of brand guidelines and visual identity.
  • Additional duties in support of larger Communications, Team Services, and organizational goals.
  • Contributes to the Trust’s success by accepting new assignments, helping team members, learning new skills, and striving to improve team and organization results.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual arts, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional graphic design experience.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Strong portfolio showcasing a range of design skills and creativity.
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite; experience working in a Mac environment preferred.
  • Passionate about LT’s mission, adaptable, and able to thrive in independent and collaborative environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of color theory and typography principles.
  • Demonstrated, proven aesthetic judgment, excellent visual design ability, and strong conceptual ability.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Familiarity with motion graphics.

  • Knowledge of the Hawaiian language is helpful but not required.
  • Note: This position is hybrid and candidate must be primarily located in HI.

Mental And Physical Demands

  • Perform light physical work, including climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and lifting weight of up to 25 pounds. Exposed to outdoor climate and diverse terrain.
