Job Purpose The Overnight Support Specialist is responsible for engaging ʻōpio in activities that promote healing, hope, and growth at our Ranch in Waimea, Hawaii.  LT Ranch offers residential camps for up to eight youth who would benefit from an nature-based program focused on healing, purpose, and growth. The Overnight Support Specialist will be responsible for tending to the needs of up to 8 youth ages 12-17 during the night shift. The Overnight Support Specialist works with the program team to facilitate activities, ensure youth are compliant with rules and policies, ensures youth follow evening routines and support with preparation, clean up and set up of the residence.    Essential Responsibilities Ensure bathing and hygiene activities are conducted in an appropriate manner Prepare meals with youth; eat and clean up together Provide evening activities (games, kanikapila, movies, firepit, etc) Provide evening bedtime routine ensuring all youth are in bed at appropriate times. Be able to identify need for advanced assistance and contact appropriate staff / authorities as needed. Report to overnight staff prior to shift ending to ensure any pertinent information is shared Manage behavioral issues with trauma-informed responses Daily documentation.   Overnight duties (11 pm to 7 am): Ensure space, meals and programs are prepared for next day of activities. Monitor ʻōpio nighttime activities, as well as sleep and safety. Tend to the needs of ʻōpio as needed, which may include but not limited to bedding changes, emotional support, promptly responding to accidents and incidents, basic first aid, etc. Must be able to identify need for advanced assistance and contact appropriate staff / authorities as needed. Manage issues with trauma-informed responses Tend to overnight administrative and maintenance tasks such as light housekeeping, answering phones, safety monitoring, preparing food for breakfast, etc. Report to morning staff upon daily transition of duties. Daily documentation.   General activities Support daily life-skills development, including personal self-management, meal preparation, nutrition, physical activity. Support and respond to youth behavioral, emotional and psychological health needs using a culturally informed, trauma informed approach.  Observe and document youth participation, designs behavior intervention and/or management plans, and monitors and reports on progress.  Model positive group management practices and actions to ensure program participant safety by developing healthy relationships and appropriate physical and emotional boundaries with children and youth.   Other duties, as needed: Collaborate with teammates in the facilitation of activities to promote social emotional learning and growth mindset. Comfortably interact with animals in a safe and kind manner while providing youth similar opportunities for engagment and reflection. Perform other duties as assigned.   Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, education, or related degree; or the equivalent life experience working with youth in need of educational, social and/or emotional support, preferrably in a school or residential facility setting. Recent experience working with vulnerable youth populations required, preferrably with a State Agency. Ability to be physically, mentally and emotionally prepared to implement all needed first aid, safety and emergency procedures with tact, care, and respect for our ʻōpio. Knowledge of behavior management strategies. Knowledge of trauma informed approaches to working with vulnerable youth.   Requirements: Able to be around animals inside and outside the residence Valid driver license, clean traffic abstract, and access to a privately owned automobile with valid no-fault insurance. TB clearance First Aid and CPR/AED Certification, preferred. If not certified, must have willingness and ability to become CPR, First Aid, and Safety Care trained/ certified within 90 days of employment.   Job Competencies Aloha: awareness and approach to the work with compassion, empathy, and kindness. ‘Imi Na’auao: a constant desire for seeking knowledge; lifelong learner. Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work well under pressure and to remain calm and controlled when faced with challenging situations.   Travel Requirements: In alignment with our organizational competencies of Alu Like I ka Hana (Teamwork) and Ho`omau i ka `imi Na`auao (Continuous Learning and Improvement), this position will require occasional travel across the island, inter-island, and out-of-state depending on the needs of the team and the organization.
