About the Position
The Associate Fashion Designer, Woven Dresses is responsible for the design and development of Woven Dresses for Lilly Pulitzer®. The objective is to develop innovative designs that delight the customer, have high retail sell through and contribute to the profitable growth of the company.
A day in the life…
- Support the Senior Design Manager and Senior Designer in developing innovative and brand-appropriate woven dress designs that meet margin and merchandising goals
- Develop strong cross-functional and interdepartmental relationships
- Research trends within fabric, print, color, silhouettes, trim, and embellishments
- Skillfully prepare sketches and presentations of design ideas, ensuring product is consistent with competitive trends and brand strategies
- Partner with Technical Design, the Sample Room, and Product Development to create tech packages, communicating desired fit and aesthetic
- Prepare detail sketches and embellishment layouts
- Create and maintain style BOMs in Centric and support trim development
- Review samples at all stages. Ensure any updates are accurately reflected in Centric, on Master Boards and any other related documents, as necessary
- Organize samples and maintain sample closet
- maintain all activities consistent with the product development calendar
- perform special tasks as required
Qualifications for the Position
- A four-year college degree is required, preferably with a major/minor within Fashion Design.
- 3-6 years of apparel design experience, preferably in the fashion or retail industry.
- Passion, creativity, and genuine excitement for the Lilly Pulitzer concept and customer.
- An elevated taste level and keen eye for color, trend and detail.
- Excellent knowledge of construction, fit, and fabric characteristics.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic, and highly collaborative environment.
- Self-motivated with the sense of urgency necessary in the apparel industry.
- Strong computer knowledge including Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Microsoft Powerpoint, Word and Excel.
- Knowledge of Centric or style management systems a plus, but not required.
- Energy and initiative to take on all tasks related to dress development.
