Job Description
The Wholesale Fulfillment and Shipping Supervisor has the primary responsibilities of supervising all activity within the Wholesale Fulfillment and Shipping Departments. Additional responsibilities include: Value-Added Services Department, full range of personnel decision making for Wholesale and Shipping Teams, heightened focus on the overall process improvement opportunities. The Wholesale Fulfillment and Shipping Supervisor is also expected to personally work in a hands-on manner and assist with the operation of E-Commerce sales.
A day in the life…
- Supervise and lead the Wholesale Fulfillment Department
- Supervise the Shipping Department
- Supervise and lead the Wholesale Value Added Services (V.A.S.) Department
- Create and maintain a deadline driven, time sensitive, and productivity based working environment for Wholesale Fulfillment and Shipping Departments
- Provide leadership and motivation to others as detailed in the “Core Leadership Qualities” and the “Core Values”
- Assist with the operation of the Sample Sales and E-Commerce Sales
These six major areas are discussed further below.
Supervise and lead the Wholesale Fulfillment Department
- Wave all picking orders for Wholesale via the Run Waves Tile in the WMS User Interface (UI).
- Issue labels to promote efficiency through the Zone Pick Picking Model. All “active pick zones” should have a constant flow of work that is sourced from either a “drop zone” or the “pick-slip cubbies”.
- Orders should be waved and prioritized in accordance with directives from the Omni-Channel Inventory, Planning & Allocation.
- Create and maintain the “Wholesale Shipping Schedule” for every shipping window. Collaborate with the Merchandise and Inventory Allocation Team to smooth order flow and limit processing peaks by identifying the need to “Pack & Hold” orders to preserve Service Level expectations.
- Anticipate operational issues which could affect the ability to meet deadlines and service levels and recommend solutions.
- Create replenishment reports via the Required Replenishments Tile in the UI. Ensure needed replenishments are assigned and completed. Needed replenishment should never result in productivity gaps within the Wholesale Picking Department. Continue the flow of picking by either splitting cartons and waving around needed replenishment or waving upon replenishment completion.
- Appropriately staff the entire Wholesale Fulfillment Department to meet service levels. Be prepared to discuss departmental needs for the following day when meeting at the staffing board.
- Re-allocate staff throughout the day using the “Units by Zone” Report via the WMS UI.
- Provide supplies to associates working within the Wholesale Fulfillment Department. This includes, but is not limited to, cardboard, tape, picking carts and box cutters.
- Organize and maintain clean picking aisles.
- Lilly Pulitzerâ merchandise is special and high quality. It should be handled with care and respect. Product should not be left on the floor within picking aisles. Any product spotted on the floor should be placed back into its original location.
Supervise the Shipping Department.
- Process and ship all orders “same day” that are allocated overnight and are pushed down prior to 12:00pm.
- Communicate with our carrier partners specifying daily and weekly workloads.
- Order and maintain supplies needed for all outbound, as it pertains to wholesale, majors and retail.
- Process and ship all Majors/Nationals accounts as close to the “Start-Ship” date as possible.
- Organize and Update vendor standard manuals as needed. Stay current with changes from wholesale, specialty and major department store shipping and packaging needs.
3. Supervise and lead the Wholesale Value Added Services (V.A.S.) Department
- Value-Added-Services or V.A.S. consists of varied special and additional services provided for several of our Wholesale accounts. V.A.S. includes but is not limited to hanging, tissue paper wrapping, bagging, stickering, and ticketing.
- Ensure all orders that require V.A.S. are successfully processed to meet ship dates.
- Supervise Associates working in the V.A.S. area to ensure orders are processed accurately. Minimize chargebacks by following routing guidelines provided by customer accounts.
- Stay current and up to date with all route guides for all Wholesale customers and Major Accounts.
- Track and publish productivity for V.A.S. on the ‘Productivity Board’ on the first business day of each month.
- Effectively manage supplies within the V.A.S. area.
4. Create and maintain a deadline driven, time-sensitive, and productivity based working environment for the Wholesale Fulfillment and Shipping Departments
- Display a vigilant awareness of the deadlines inherent in the industry. Because of the seasonality of the business, timeliness is essential. Merchandise is either on time or the deadline is missed; there is no concept of lateness. Deadlines must be met.
- Monitor associate’s productivity across 2 parameters, Picks Per Hour (PPH) and Average Gap Time (AGT).
- Anticipate problems, which could affect the ability to meet deadlines and service levels, and to recommend solutions.
5. Provide leadership and motivation to others as detailed in the “Core Leadership Qualities” and the “Core Values”
- Provide leadership and motivation to others as described in the “Core Leadership Qualities” document. This is done primarily by being a selfless leader, serving as a good role model and conducting oneself in a manner that coincides with the “Company Creed” and the “Core Values”.
6. Assist with the operation of Sample Sales and E-Commerce Sales
- Assist, as directed by the Manager of Inventory Control and F.C. Projects, with the operation of Sample Sales. This includes set-up, operations during the sale, and post-sale initiatives.
- Assist, as directed by the Sr. Manager of E-Commerce, Wholesale Fulfillment and Stocking with, the operation of E-Commerce Sales. This includes set-up, operations during the sale, and post-sale initiatives.
- Operate the sales in a manner, which enables the Fulfillment Center to provide reasonable service levels during sale events.
- Perform the necessary tasks after the Sample and E-Commerce Sales to restore the company’s inventory accurately.
Qualifications for the Position
- A degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or Industrial Engineering is preferred, but not required.
- Above average personal computer skills on Microsoftâ Windowsâ, Excelâ and Wordâ are required for the position.
- The willingness and aptitude to learn to use computer applications relevant to the position on the Company’s Manhattan based Warehouse Management System. Training will be provided as necessary.
- The personal strength and stamina to move, stack, and load boxes weighing as much as 40 lbs.
- This position requires an extremely high sense of urgency and the ability to meet difficult seasonal peaks, workloads, and deadlines. In the apparel business there is no concept of lateness. The company is either on time or it has missed the deadline.
- This position requires someone who is self-motivated and independently seeks new challenges.

- 2nd Shift: 10:30 A.M. to 7:00 P.M.
- This position is based out of King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Philadelphia.
- Given the seasonality of the business, this position may require flexible, additional working hours during peak periods. The ability to work on Saturdays is required.
