Biologist
We are seeking a highly motivated, project-oriented Senior Biologist with strong research skills and background in ion channel physiology to join our growing Pain and Neuronal Health team. This individual will utilize in vitro electrophysiological techniques such as patch-clamp and multi-electrode array (MEA) to experiment on novel drug targets and investigate their mechanisms of action. The ideal candidate should also be highly experienced in stereotaxic and/or survival surgeries and possess strong analytic skills involving multi-dimensional data. The candidate is expected to work collaboratively within cross-functional project teams and communicate effectively to internal and external teams and partners.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform whole-cell patch clamp and in vitro MEA
- Investigate the mechanism of action underlying drug targets by utilizing molecular and cellular biology experiments including, but not limited, to iPSC characterization, organoid culture, molecular cloning and immunohistochemistry (IHC)
- Analyze and visualize experimental results by data analytic skills such as PCA, clustering, waveform analysis in a Python or R environment with robust statistical knowledge
- Meticulously document experimental results in compliance with research policies
- Present data and conclusions to cross-functional teams and leadership in a clear and compelling manner
Basic Qualifications:
- Masters degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Neuroscience, Neurophysiology, or related scientific discipline with a minimum of 2 years industry experience.
- Alternatively, a Bachelors degree in Neuroscience, Neurophysiology, or related scientific discipline with a minimum of 4 years industry experience
Additional Skills/Preferences:
- Experience with slice-patch clamp experience is highly preferred
- Generating/using iPSC and mixed cultured systems and monitoring of synaptic plasticity
- Assist in the surgical procedures for in vivo electrophysiology
- Experience using optical imaging in native neuronal cultures as a functional endpoint (e.g. calcium-sensitive dye)
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Demonstrated expertise in research as evidenced by an excellent peer reviewed publication record

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$63,000 - $162,800Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
