The Investigative Absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion (ADME)/Toxicology and BioAnalytical Research (BAR) group is an organization purpose-built team to ensure we provide stage-appropriate, issue-driven solutions to molecular creation teams that make life better for people. Position Summary:

The Investigative ADME/Toxicology and BioAnalytical Research team focuses primarily on drug discovery. We are seeking an experienced leader for our cross-site BioAnalytical Research (BAR) team. The candidate should have a passion for developing discovery analytical research scientists with a molecular biology or mass spectral focus to deliver reliable results at the pace discovery research demands. The candidate should demonstrate a record or leading groups across multiple sites while maintaining a deep knowledge of current technology to solve assay exposure challenges across modalities. Collaboration with ADME and Toxicology project leaders, lab-based scientists and medicinal chemists is essential. This role requires excellent people skills, a positive attitude, willingness to learn, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with leadership to ensure a cohesive/integrated BioAnalytical Research (BAR) team within the department focused towards providing strategic oversight and next-level leader mentorship to BioA group leads to ensure cross site integration, execution and organizational effectiveness for groups across Boston, Indianapolis, Colorado and San Francisco.
  • Collaborate with therapeutic areas and molecular creation teams to ensure lab-based excellence, timely assay development, data analysis and reporting across modalities.
  • Engage with scientific laboratory operations team to ensure effective outsourcing is in place. Work together to ensure work is placed appropriately (internal/external) in order to support a fast-paced discovery organization.
  • Cultivate a growth mindset within the team and amplify project learnings on key issues improving performance primarily within discovery, but also where appropriate for development.
  • Work closely with Investigative ADME/Toxicology leaders to ensure critical success factors are outlined for teams to ensure delivery of quality medicines and stage-oriented execution of work within the Lilly Research Laboratories portfolio.
  • Challenge the organization to actively tackle ambitious goals and bring new technology to increase efficiency and excellence to the group.
  • Lead a team of analytical scientists which contribute to or develop, validate, implement and/or approve appropriate analytical or enzymatic assays, methods or enhanced throughput screens used for quantification or structural identification of compounds or biomarkers, to determine pharmacokinetic or drug disposition parameters, and to determine transport or biotransformation properties, in compliance with GLP and/or OECD guidelines where required.
  • Responsible scientists who design, interpret, and/or report studies on the absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion of compounds, including review of protocols and/or study reports for studies conducted at a third-party organization/contract research organization (TPO/CRO) or other external partner. Responsibilities may include scientific discussions with TPO staff.

Basic Requirements:

  • PhD with minimum of 15 years academic/research/industry exp (may include post-doc experience), MS with 20 years industry/academic/research exp, or BS with 25 years industry/academic/research experience within the pharmaceutical sector, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated technical expert in bioanalysis, mass spectrometry, biologic drug discovery, and protein biochemistry, including peer review of documents, conduct of due diligence reviews, writing and/or reviewing SOPs, service on intra- or inter-departmental committees, author regulatory submission documents and regulatory responses and consultation with global regulatory agencies.

Additional Information:

This position will be based at the Indianapolis, IN (preferred) or Louisville, CO site.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is

$162,000 - $237,600

Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
