As a Pet Groomer, you will be responsible for providing high-quality grooming services while ensuring the comfort and safety of the animals in your care. This role requires both technical skills and a compassionate approach to animal handling.
Duties
- Perform grooming services including bathing, clipping, trimming, and styling pets according to breed standards or client preferences.
- Assess the condition of pets' coats and skin, identifying any issues that may require veterinary attention.
- Handle animals safely and effectively, using proper restraint techniques to ensure their comfort during grooming.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the grooming area, including tools and equipment.
- Communicate with pet owners about their pets’ grooming needs and any observed health concerns.
- Provide additional services such as nail trimming, ear cleaning, and teeth brushing as needed.
- Stay updated on grooming trends, techniques, and products to provide the best care for pets.
Skills
- Proficiency in pet grooming techniques for various breeds.
- Strong animal handling skills with experience in dog handling and animal restraint.
- Background knowledge or experience as a veterinary assistant or veterinary technician is a plus.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when handling larger breeds or equipment.
- Knowledge of dog training principles is beneficial.
- Experience with equine care is an advantage but not required.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with pet owners and team members.
