Empower Parent Advocate

Prenatal and Early Childhood Focus

Purpose: provide the direct services offered by Lilyfields Pregnancy and Parenting Program, focusing on serving pregnant women and biological mothers of children up to 36 months. Demonstrate compliance with the Choosing Childbirth Contract as it pertains to billing and providing tangible items for clients who attend services. Provide direct pregnancy and parenting support services to clients in either a group or individual setting.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct parenting groups or individual sessions for the program
  • Maintain inventory of tangible items to be distributed to clients for attending group or individual sessions
  • Promote the program statewide to help recruit new clients for the program
  • Become trained in the interventions as the group facilitator.
  • Conduct group classes for parents
  • Provide individual mentoring and case management for parents
  • Recruit participants in the community through strong relationships with other community resources.
  • Create fun and interactive environment for adults to learn.
  • Support and provide positive connections with families.
  • Support the larger Empower Parent Program by filling in as a facilitator and/or supporting groups for other team members as needed
  • Travel to and from the locations where the families live for education and support.
  • Case coordination and management in conjunction with other service providers such as foster care workers, counselors, teachers, etc.
  • Maintain and cultivate the strong partnership between community resources and Lilyfield.
  • Identify needs in the target community and create solutions to meet those needs.
  • Maintain awareness of and relationships with a variety of other services providers.
  • Assist in collecting data from each participant during the group sessions and maintain case files.
  • Various marketing and PR activities for the agency.
  • Driving and travel between service locations required.
  • Other tasks as assigned

Wage Classification:

Salaried

Financial Justification for the Position:

The position works directly coordinates the services provided and billed to the Choosing childbirth contract. There are sufficient funds for this position from charitable giving, grant funding, and Choosing childbirth contract funding.

Work Hours:

Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m., some evenings and weekends for client visits or program coordination.

Reporting:

This position reports to the Parent Program Manager

Education/Training:

Bachelors level degree in social work, psychology or a human services related area of study; or a high school diploma with two years of work experience and/or with lived experience in the community we are serving.

  • Experience with contracts, grants, or agreements with specific requirements related to funding
  • Knowledge of resources available to families
  • Ability to engage community partners
  • Provide group and individual services
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Experience with parents of young children or women who are pregnant
  • Demonstrated competence in assessment and evaluation of children and families
  • Ability to use discretion when discussing sensitive or confidential information
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to schedule and multitask
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Meet requirements of licensing standards in regard to criminal background check.
  • Be physically, mentally and emotionally capable of performing the assigned tasks and have the skills necessary to perform assigned tasks.
  • Valid Oklahoma drivers license required
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred

Experience:

At least three years of work experience with children and families or three years of work experience in any field along with relevant lived experience in the community we are serving.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit on the floor, bend and be at ground level with families and children.
