What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chart Analyst I - Financial Services position at Lima Memorial Health System?
Functioning within the Health System’s mission, values, objectives, policies and procedures, the Chart Analyst I is responsible for reviewing ER medical record to validate that there is a corresponding entry for all physician orders, date, description of service, and length of time spent; and that the documentation supports medical necessity based on diagnosis for the Emergency Room level of service. The Chart Analyst enters charges for infusions and injection charges, room charges, and procedures. Consistently coordinates and prioritizes work to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency with minimal supervision. Utilizes positive service oriented communication skills to assure good interpersonal relationships for in-person, telephone, and written interactions. Stays informed on insurance carrier policy changes for injections and infusions. Serves as back up when needed for other Chart Audit team members, including those responsible for both inpatient and outpatient records.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred with post-secondary education in Medical Office Assistant coursework strongly preferred.
Licensure/Certification: N/A
Experience: A minimum of one year of medical office or similar experience in an acute care/health system setting is required. Medical Record coding experience is preferred.
Skills: Strong interpersonal and computer skills, training in medical terminology, and documented ability to understand nursing and procedural documentation are required. Must also have the documented ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Basic Meditech competency is preferred.
