What are the responsibilities and job description for the LPN - 5 South position at Lima Memorial Health System?
Functioning within the Health System’s mission, vision, values, policies and procedures. The LPN functions as a partner to the Registered Nurse with the goal of providing quality patient care. The LPN responsibilities include collecting data, implementing and evaluating nursing care. On-call response time within one hour required.
Education: High School diploma or equivalent (e.g. GED) is preferred. Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Licensure/Certification: Must have a valid unrestricted LPN license for the State of Ohio. Current BLS required.
Experience: One to three years’ experience specific to physician office practice or Health System preferred.
Skills: Must have excellent “customer service” skills, including the ability to exhibit patience and tact with all constituents including physicians, patients and associates. Must demonstrate flexibility with work schedule changes and be “on call” per department requirements. Be cooperative and collaborative, and have the documented ability to work with speed and proficiency while under stress.Must have basic computer skills and EMR (electronic medical records) experience. Must be able to print and write legibly and accurately. Possess the ability to calculate simple mathematics and follow instructions. Must demonstrate ability to review patient charts; treatments, record and report experimental symptoms, reactions, and changes in patient’s conditions monitoring verbal and non-verbal responses of seizures. Must demonstrate lifting ability including but not limited to assisting and maneuvering patients when required. Must have knowledge of isolation techniques to communicable diseases and/or bodily fluids. Must have knowledge in the different materials and equipment involved in applying and removing seizure pads and braces . Must have intravenous injection certification. Must demonstrate the ability to delegate to unit technicians and/or secretary.
