Certified pharmacy Tech
Functioning within the Health System’s mission, values, objectives, policies and procedures, the Certified Pharmacy Technician works as a partner with the Registered Pharmacists and Pharmacy Interns in performing the functions of dispensing, billing and recordkeeping in the Pharmacy Department and throughout the Health System. Responsibilities include preparation of unit medication dose packaging, medication labeling and distribution, IV admixture compounding, and preparation and delivery of floor stock items. The Certified Pharmacy Technician works with the Pharmacist to ensure medication storage areas inside and outside of the pharmacy are clean and secure. All duties are performed under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required
Licensure/Certification: Certification by a nationally recognized exam (i.e. ExCPT by the National Healthcareer Association OR the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) is required. A valid unrestricted registration with the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy as a ‘Certified Pharmacy Technician’ is required
Experience: One year of previous experience is preferred; preferably in a hospital setting.
Skills: Must have strong clerical and numerical abilities, including a good understanding of the metric system of weights and measurements. Good communication and organizational skills and attention to detail are also required.
OR Pharmacy Trainee
