What are the responsibilities and job description for the Rehabilitation Services Aide - Physical Medicine position at Lima Memorial Health System?
Functioning within the Health System’s mission, values, objectives, procedures and policies, the Rehabilitation Services Aide, under the direct supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist, Physical Therapy Assistant, Occupational Therapist, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Speech Therapist, Audiologist and/or Certified Athletic Trainers, assists in the patient care and non-patient care duties necessary to maintain a smooth flow of activities. Patient care is essential with this position where the rehab service aide will assist with PT treatment sessions, maintain equipment organization and cleanliness, and assist with mobility as indicated. Job functions include maintaining office equipment, supplies, and processes, and problem solving are also necessary functions of the job
Education: High school graduate or equivalent is preferred.
Licensure/Certification: BLS Certification required, STNA preferred but not required.
Experience: Training and/or experience in maintaining records, patient scheduling, insurance verification/authorization, billing/reimbursement issues, communication, using and maintaining office equipment, including computers is necessary. Previous work experience with other PT/OT/ST departments or medical departments is recommended.
Skills: Verbal, numerical abilities and manual dexterity are required. Rehabilitation Services Aide must have a pleasant personality with good manners since communication with patients is a common activity. Rehabilitation Services Aide must also have the ability to learn quickly since on-the-job training is necessary. Initiative, listening, general knowledge of PT/OT/ST, and timeliness are all important skills required to perform this job. Other common activities include talking, listening, reaching and handling various equipment, as well as typing and computer skills. Necessary traits include good communications skills, public speaking skills, ability to multi-task, near visual acuity, and hand-eye coordination.
