What are the responsibilities and job description for the RN - ICU position at Lima Memorial Health System?
Functioning within the Health System’s mission, vision, values, policies and procedures, the Registered Nurse assumes responsibility and accountability for the care of assigned patients on his/her shift. RN responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care using age specific criteria. Judgments are made based upon scientific knowledge and clinical skills. The RN also assists in planning, directing and teaching non-RN staff such as LPN/PCT and Unit Secretaries. Must demonstrate -flexibility with work schedule changes. On-call response time within forty-five (45) minutes required.
Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Licensure/Certification: Must have a valid unrestricted RN license for the State of Ohio. Current BLS required and must have ACLS or obtain within orientation period. NIHSS required with hire or within next offering. Must complete and pass Basic/Intermediate Cardiac class with first offering available. Will have to specialize in either Trauma or Open-Heart nursing care within one year of hire. TNCC required for Trauma care nurses.
Experience: Critical care experience preferred. Medical/Surgical experience preferred
Skills: Must have excellent “customer service” skills, including the ability to exhibit patience and tact with all constituents including physicians, patients and associates. Be cooperative and collaborative, and have the ability to work efficiently while in stressful situations. Must have basic computer skills and EMR (electronic medical records) experience. Must be enthusiastic for learning critical care.
