What are the responsibilities and job description for the RN Information Systems Coordinator - Surgery position at Lima Memorial Health System?
Functioning within the Health System’s mission, values, objectives, policies and procedures, the RN Information Systems Coordinator is responsible for creating reports utilizing the surgery information system, maintaining data integrity, and monitoring and editing charges related to surgical services provided. Responsibilities include conducting chart audits; creating monthly reports related to the charging system; reviewing the daily surgical list to make certain an audit has been obtained for each patient; and validating all surgeries which are documented in the medical record contain a physician’s order, date, description of service, length of time spent conducting each activity, and support medical necessity. The RN Information Systems Coordinator consistently prioritizes work to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency with minimal supervision. S/he keeps abreast of new local code assignments, billing requirements, coverage policies, and other local compliance issues through provider bulletins, and utilizes positive service-oriented communication skills to assure good interpersonal relationships for all in person, telephone, and written interactions. As a staff RN, there may be times when the RN will be called upon to perform duties related to patient care, including but not limited to assuming responsibility and accountability for the care of assigned patients on their shift. RN responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care.
Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing with an Associate’s Degree.
Licensure/Certification: A valid unrestricted RN license from the Ohio Board of Nursing is required.
Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of OR nursing experience within the last 5 years required. Open Heart experience preferred. Inventory control experience preferred
Skills: A comprehensive knowledge of surgery information systems including but not limited to Meditech and competency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Power Point) and control charts are also required. Must be highly organized, self-motivated, and dependable. Excellent interpersonal and communication skill and the documented ability to continuously demonstrate a professional demeanor at all times in a fast paced, stressful environment are also required.
