Job Title: Behavior Technician Supervised by/Reports to: Principal FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Job Goals:
- Facilitate behavior intervention for students to meet their behavioral
- Assist school personnel in implementing an effective behavior plan for all students to address their personal, social, functional, and behavioral goals.
Qualifications:
- Associate Degree or two years of higher education or successful passage of the WorkKeys test, required.
- Prior experience working with elementary students,
- Able to manage students independently, if
- Ability to understand and apply behavioral strategies and techniques with elementary-age students
- Ability to efficiently use technology
- Proficient oral and written communication skills
- Effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with behavioral coaches, teachers, students, parents, and others
Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Under the direction of the district behavior coaches, performs tasks related to
- Collect daily behavior data
- Provide direct student care in a 1:1 or group setting
- Follow behavior intervention plans to fidelity and follow individualized education plans
- Assist classroom teachers and instructional assistants with implementing behavior intervention plans
- Assist classroom teachers and behavior analysts in the preparation of student materials
- Willingness to participate in professional development
- Provide exemplary leadership through hands-on training and modeling of ethical conduct
- Teach social skills lessons including replacement behaviors lessons
- Provide appropriate sensory and/or behavioral breaks as needed
- Maintain strict confidentiality
- Performs other job-related duties and responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor(s).
Physical Demands:
The employee will be required to complete non-violent crisis intervention prevention training. Employees are required to physically restrain students when applicable. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk and use hands to finger, to handle, or feel objects, equipment, or controls. The employee frequently is required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, bend, stoop, squat, crouch, and kneel. The employee must occasionally lift, push, pull, carry and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include near vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Salary: Salary to be established by The Limestone County School’s District Salary Schedule.
