Overview: We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Orlando, FL. This role will focus on large-scale projects, involving the design, analysis, and implementation of mechanical systems. You will be responsible for mechanical system design from scratch, performing stress and fatigue analysis, load calculations, failure analysis, and leading system installation and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement fully integrated mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with local and government agency codes.
- Conduct mechanical system analysis, including stress, fatigue, acceleration forces, load, and material stress design.
- Perform hazard analysis and risk assessment to develop mitigation strategies.
- Select mechanical components and ensure redundancy in system designs, minimizing single points of failure.
- Create technical documentation, such as system design descriptions, implementation plans, and maintenance/job plans.
- Develop mechanical design drawings, assemblies, and installation procedures using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
- Design and troubleshoot pneumatic and hydraulic control systems.
- Analyze ride system design requirements for attractions, including guest safety, weight, reach envelope, and emergency evacuation protocols.
- Assist in the start-up and debugging of integrated systems, while leading the development of system documentation.
- Lead system integration projects across industries like entertainment and manufacturing.
- Act as technical lead on projects, mentoring lower-level engineers, technicians, and contractors.
- Serve as Project Manager for smaller projects ranging from $50k to $250k, managing scope, deadlines, purchasing, and subcontractor requirements.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: 5 years of experience in mechanical system design, analysis, stress calculation, and knowledge of ASTM safety standards for amusement rides.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and SolidWorks software.
- Experience designing and troubleshooting pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to perform system analysis and calculations (stress, fatigue, reliability, tolerance studies).
- Familiarity with contract documents, specifications, and field data collection.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Ability to prioritize and organize tasks to meet deadlines.
- Customer-focused with a proven track record of timely decision-making.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office environments.
- Ability to lift, climb, mount and dismount equipment, and perform physical tasks such as pushing and pulling.
- Must have color perception, dexterity in hands, and clear speech.
