Role:
Under the supervision of the Radiation Oncologist, the Radiation Therapist performs radiation therapy, CT simulations, and maintains proper treatment documentation standards. The Radiation Therapist coordinates, plans, and administers high quality and comprehensive radiotherapy to oncology patients of the adult population. by utilizing technology, machinery, and established techniques to ensure a positive patient experience and outcome. Demonstrating radiation safety standards with patients and staff members is essential.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
· Interacts with both internal and external customers professionally.
· Train and supervise students and mentor newly hired Radiation Therapists.
· Prepares chart checks and ensures all required documentation is present and checked prior to initiating treatment. Communicate proactively to ensure timely readiness of treatment.
· Performs warm-up and quality assurance safety checks on linear accelerator and CT simulator equipment.
· Utilizes timeout protocol to identify the correct patient and ensure correct treatment is performed.
· Prepares and educates patients on procedure and communicates with patients’ caregivers when appropriate.
· Ability to lift and maneuver patients and equipment to perform job functions.
· Positions patient utilizing proper immobilization techniques and set-ups, imaging protocols, and utilizes critical thinking and judgement in all aspects of the patient journey.
· Adheres to safety requirements utilizing proper PPE and infection control policies and procedure.
· Captures daily treatment and reconciles all charges by end of business day.
· Assists leadership in maintaining all required policies, procedures, and records for performing job functions.
· Adheres to time management, supply management, and productivity.
· Follows the code of ethics and practice standards set by the ARRT and ASRT.
· Compliant with all licensure and certification requirements to perform job as required by State law and company policy.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an approved School for Radiation Therapy and New Grads Welcome!
- ARRT Registered Technologist (T)
- Must be in good standing with all CE and license requirements.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association
