What are the responsibilities and job description for the Waiter/Waitress position at Lin Asian Bar + Dim Sum?

Lin Asian Bar is looking for some fun, experienced servers to help take care of our guests while dining at our restaurant. We are the only Open Kitchen Style Chinese Restaurant in Texas. Starting pay up to $7.25/ hour, add to tip pool after hired round up to $45/ hour.

JOB SUMMARY
Lin Asian Bar’s food and beverage service staff is directly responsible for guest satisfaction in all food and beverage operations including dining, and bar service. Their purpose is to provide friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient service to the guests in accordance with Lin’s standard operating procedures, and core values. QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma preferred or equivalent
  • At least 2 years of previous service experience in an upscale bar, resort or high-end restaurant
  • Strong knowledge of the following: English language; five-star customer service; casual, fine dining, and banquet food and beverage service; liquor, beer, and wine knowledge
  • TABC Food Handler’s Card and Texas Liquor Training

Physical Requirements:

  • Flexible and long hours are sometimes required; long hours standing and/or walking
  • Medium work – Exerting up to 10 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects
  • Must have a high level of physical fitness
  • Unusual working conditions: May be scheduled nights, weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime; may work indoors or outdoors in a variety of weather conditions; working with wet/slippery floors, sharp objects, fumes, and electrical equipment

  • Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately
  • Must work well in stressful, high-pressure situations

DUTIES & FUNCTIONS
Essential:

  • Employee leads by example, consistently conveying a positive attitude, passion, and pride in your work
  • Approach all encounters with guests and fellow employees in a gracious, attentive, courteous, and service-oriented manner
  • Keep fiscal responsibility and guest satisfaction in mind when making all decisions
  • Take part in keeping Lin Asian Bar clean and litter-free. Cleanliness is everyone’s responsibility, take ownership of the restaurant
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with The Lin’s standards, as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the Lin’s
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming as per the Employee Handbook, which includes wearing proper attire and name tag when working
  • Comply at all times with Lin Asian Bar standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient Lin operations
  • Maintain and increase departmental revenues – Promote and maximize profitability via suggestive selling techniques and being aware of upcoming special events and promoting them verbally to the guests
  • Know the menu and assist guests by guiding them through our varied offerings and specials – describe, recommend, and offer options; always know the details of any current promotion or specialty menu
  • Build relationships with guests and staff – recall personal preferences in order to anticipate and exceed the guests’ expectations
  • Deliver customized service with warmth and genuine care
  • Cross-train and perform duties of all food and beverage service positions (food server, bartender, hostess, and server assistant)

  • Know all liquor and draft beers as well as the wine list. Know how to open and serve a bottle of wine
  • Set and clear tables according to standard operating procedures; serve food and beverages to guests as needed
  • Responsible for completing detailed opening, mid-shift, and closing duties
  • Remember Teamwork – look beyond your own section and treat all tables as your own; seek opportunities to support others
  • Use the concept of “Full Hands In/Full Hands Out” as you go through your shift.
  • Become an expert in the point of sale – know how to use modifiers, how to process voids, comps, proper tendering of multiple checks and multiple payments, and know your discounts. Use the lists and tools provided. Properly Z out and drop your cash at the end of each shift.
  • Maintain and ensure immaculate facilities for guests - Monitor and maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the front of house and back of house areas using a ‘clean as you go’ philosophy
  • Responsible for flow management, concentrating on busy areas first – prioritizing and organizing steps of service by effective multi-tasking
  • Maintain sanitary conditions in all dining, kitchen, and bar areas in accordance with state and local regulations
  • Inform supervisor immediately of any equipment, not in the proper condition or good working order
  • Inform supervisor immediately of needed equipment, supplies, liquor, beer, and wine
  • Attend pre-service meetings to prepare for and anticipate service needs
  • Recognize fellow employees for a job well done in a timely manner
  • Communicate all guest complaints and suggestions to your supervisor promptly
  • Follow all food and beverage service and Lin’s policies
  • Performs other duties as required by your manager
