Job Description
• Conduct bridge inspections and prepare inspection reports
• Perform bridge load rating and prepare rating reports
• Perform bridge design for new construction, rehabilitation and replacement projects for highway, railroad, and pedestrian bridges
• Prepare construction cost estimates and specifications
• Coordinate with CAD designers to develop construction plans
• Prepare cost proposal and work-hour estimates
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in civil/structural engineering
• NBIS qualified Team Leader with structural design experience
• Computer literacy with flexibility to learn new software as needed
• Ability to work well both independently and in a team setting
• Good communication skills and ability to coordinate with subs, primes, contractors, and clients
Preferred Qualifications
• Licensed as a Professional Engineer registered in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and others
• Completed one or more of the following NHI courses:
o Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges (130055)
o Bridge Inspection Refresher Training (130053)
o Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges (130078)
o Tunnel Safety Inspection (130110)
o Inspection and Maintenance of Ancillary Highway Structures (130087)
o Working knowledge of MassDOT (including MBTA), Massport, and DCR Bridge Design, Rating, and Inspection Programs
