CMM Program Supervisor
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced CMM Program Supervisor to oversee the coordination and management of the Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) programming and operations within a dynamic manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in CNC machining and manufacturing processes, with expertise in CMM programming and quality control. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the highest levels of accuracy, precision, and product quality through the implementation of CMM systems and processes.
Performance Expectations
- Oversee and manage the day-to-day programming of CMM machines to ensure accurate and efficient measurement of parts and components.
- Create and modify CMM programs for new parts, including determining best practices for measurement methods.
- Develop measurement routines for complex geometries and ensure compatibility with CAD data.
- Supervise and train team members in proper CMM programming, operation, and troubleshooting.
- Work closely with CNC machining teams to develop, monitor, and optimize quality inspection processes for machined parts.
- Review part designs and collaborate with CNC machinists to ensure that parts are manufacturable and meet quality standards.
- Utilize knowledge of CNC machining to guide CMM programming and address issues related to tool wear, machine calibration, and dimensional accuracy.
- Ensure parts are inspected and tested according to established quality standards, specifications, and customer requirements.
- Analyze inspection data and collaborate with the quality team to implement corrective actions for non-conformance issues.
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving measurement discrepancies or production issues that arise.
- Continuously improve measurement procedures and CMM programming to optimize quality, cycle time, and efficiency.
- Supervise and guide CMM programmers and quality control technicians.
- Provide leadership in daily operations, ensuring the team is properly trained in CMM programming, operation, and troubleshooting.
- Mentor staff, providing on-the-job training and fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Maintain accurate documentation for all CMM programming, inspections, and quality assurance processes.
- Prepare reports on inspection results and performance, identifying areas for improvement.
- Coordinate with management on production schedules, lead times, and quality issues.
- Liaise with engineering, production, and other departments to support project timelines and customer requirements.
- Review engineering drawings, CAD files, and specifications to ensure correct measurement techniques and programs are applied.
- Provide technical expertise on CMM-related matters to internal teams and external customers as needed.
