Job Description
Position Pay: $20.00 Hour
Hours: 2 days a week
Reports to: Chief Engineer
Location: Allegria Hotel – 80 West Broadway, Long Beach NY 11561
Job Summary
The maintenance staff is responsible for protecting the hotel assets which include preventive maintenance, general repair etc. and exceeding our customers expectations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides professional and courteous guest service at all times.
- Assists in maintenance operations for the facility to include but not limited to: refrigeration, heating, plumbing, water softeners and treatment, A/C units, ice machines, swimming pools/spa, lighting, kitchen equipment, emergency equipment/systems, switch rooms, roof exhausts, electrical substations, painting, wall covering repairs, etc.
- Ensures all projects are completed according to specifications and on time
- Aids and instructs craftsmen scheduling work, materials, and project completion
- Maintains preventive maintenance program for guestrooms, public space and all equipment
- Maintains cleanliness of grounds and attractiveness of landscaping
- Ensures cleanliness and orderliness of work space and storage areas
- Adheres to safety requirements and attends safety training complying with all OSHA, state and federal guidelines
- Assists to ensure building is prepared for semi-annual inspections and city and state inspections
- Assists with meeting room set-ups
- Perform any other job related duties as deemed necessary by management
Additional Duties
- Completes projects as determined by Chief Engineer and Assistant Chief Engineer
- Actively seeks out other tasks when current work is complete
- Participates in ongoing education and training from the Hotel Management Company
Minimum Qualifications
- Education or Experience- High school diploma or equivalent; one to two years engineering experience or training; or equivalent combination of related education and experience.
- Language Skills- Must have developed language skills to the point to be able to: ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and technical procedures. Ability to effectively respond to questions from management, customers and clients.
- Mathematical Skills- Requires mathematical development sufficient to be able to: calculate figures, area, and circumference. Possesses sharp ability for attention to detail (able to quickly identify variances in standards), working efficiently and flexibly. Ability to multi-task and be highly organized while working under pressure.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to pass background check
- Complete online safety training and use required safety gear as provided by the company
- Requires walking and standing to a significant degree, reaching, handling, climbing (ladder), kneeling, crouching, stooping, talking, hearing, and seeing
- Lifting up to 85 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying or transporting of objects or equipment weighing up to 85 lbs

Inside environmental conditions are protected from weather conditions. Potential exposure to paint, solvents, and cleaning chemicals and/or fumes. Exposure to extremes of noise and vibration and temperature changes:
- Noise and Vibration: Sufficient noise, either constant or intermittent, to cause marked distraction or possible injury to the sense of hearing, and/or sufficient vibration (production of and oscillating movement or strain on the body or its extremities from repeated motion or shock) to cause bodily harm if endured day after day. Temperature sufficiently high to cause marked bodily discomfort unless the associate is provided with exceptional protection
- Temperature Changes: Variations in temperature, which are sufficiently marked and abrupt to cause noticeable bodily reactions
