6th Grade Technology Teacher
Overview:
Lincoln Academy is looking for a certified secondary tech teacher to provide technology instruction in the 6th grade setting. This position requires a proven ability to develop and maintain a safe place for learning and growth by developing and incorporating an approved, age-appropriate curriculum through effective oral, written, and computer communication skills. This position requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university and will possess and maintain, or be actively engaged in obtaining, the proper license(s) required by the State of Utah and the Board of Trustees. Attendance at scheduled staff meetings and workshops and preparation for classes is mandatory and not considered overtime. Employees contracted work time is 7:30 am to 3:00 p.m. and will work 185 days during the contract period.
This position reports directly to the Secondary Principal. Compensation is commensurate with the applicant’s education and experience.
Specific Duties Include:
- Instructing introductory, exploratory, and/or enrichment elements of the following technology curriculum:
- Skill Struck - 6th grade
- Digital Literacy (including G-Suite for education)
- Digital Citizenship
- Beginning Coding
- Introductory Robotics
- 21st Century Learning Skills and Dispositions
- Managing a homeroom group of students
- Using flexible grouping to implement Tier 2 Intervention Strategies in the classroom
- Working cooperatively with department to create common formative assessments
- Maintaining curriculum delivery through CANVAS platform
- Managing student data through school selected SIS
- Ability to use and instruct through various technology platforms
- Recording and reporting student achievement progress and data to students and parents on a routine and regular basis
- Attending twice yearly parent teacher conferences
- Managing a daily homeroom class
- Participating in standards-based grading model
- Implementing and reporting progress on all IEP, 504, and RTI plans as written
- Maintaining clear and consistent classroom management processes
- Enforcing all school adopted policies and procedures
- Maintaining active state licensure
- Actively participating in committee assignments
- Cooperatively integrating TA into classroom structure
- Provide a safe, thriving, and respectful environment for all students in the classroom and at the school
- Create instructional resources for use in the classroom.
- Deliver engaging, impactful, and effective tier I instruction.
- Develop curriculum to meet developmental goals and instructional activities utilizing various curriculum resources.
- Administer regular assessments and adjust instruction based on data.
- Provide Tier II instruction for students in need.
- Implement technology in lessons and as part of the daily curriculum.
- Prepare lesson materials, grade papers, manage the classroom, and evaluate and give feedback to students
- Exercise open and respectful communication with families, co-workers, supervisors, and other school staff
- Measure progress and accomplishments of students towards their academic achievements regularly and provide progress reports as required
- Create and keep records on attendance, accidents, incidents, and other noteworthy events following licensing guidelines and program policies by updating and utilizing Educator’s Handbook.
- Manage student behavior following outlined guidelines and Lincoln Academy Policies
- Meet course and school-wide student performance goals.
- Participate in ongoing training sessions, PLC’s and professional development.
- Maintain current grades and post weekly updates for students and parents.
- Grade papers and perform other administrative duties as needed.
- Participate in the overall growth mindset of Lincoln Academy by being positive and open-minded with peer groups, co-workers, operational teams, administration, and the Board of Trustees.
- Prepare and distribute required reports to the administration team as requested and on time.
- Utilize an effective classroom management system to actively reinforce appropriate student behaviors.
- Be a model of ethical behavior and integrity as a member of the Lincoln Academy team.

Decisions made by Teachers:
- Drop a student to level 2 behavior
- Contact parents regarding grade or behavior issues
- Provide accommodations for students
- Modify lessons because students are not getting it
- Modify class schedule for a day because of interruptions or unique circumstances
- Modify classroom desk setup
- Submit a ticket
- Submit student for counseling or BCBA for immediate needs
- Classroom reward system
- Purchase supplies with sponsor funds
- Citizenship grades following the rubric
- Call parents if a student is sick
- Spending sponsor funds
- Get field trip drivers
- Confirm field trip drivers are approved

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree required (K-6/8 Elementary Education preferred)
- G-Suite Certification (or willingness to get certified)
- Experience working with older elementary students
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work with students in physical settings
Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs
