What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lower Elementary Teacher position at Lincoln Academy?
Overview:
The role of the Elementary School Teacher is to build relationships effectively and professionally with families and students. This position requires a proven ability to develop and maintain a safe place for learning and growth by developing and incorporating an approved, age-appropriate curriculum through effective oral and written communication skills. This position requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university and will possess and maintain, or be actively engaged in obtaining, the proper license(s) required by the State of Utah and the Board of Trustees. Attendance at scheduled staff meetings and workshops and preparation for classes is mandatory and not considered overtime. Employees contracted work time is 7:30 am to 3:00 p.m. and will work 185 days during the contract period. This position reports directly to the Principal.
Specific Duties Include:
- Provide a safe, thriving, and respectful environment for all students in the classroom and at the school
- Create instructional resources for use in the classroom.
- Deliver engaging, impactful, and effective tier I instruction.
- Use approved curriculum to meet developmental goals and instructional activities utilizing various curriculum resources.
- Administer regular assessments and adjust instruction based on data.
- Provide Tier II instruction for students in need.
- Implement technology in lessons and as part of the daily curriculum.
- Prepare students for standardized tests required by the state.
- Prepare lesson materials, grade papers, manage the classroom, and evaluate and give feedback to students
- Exercise open and respectful communication with families, co-workers, supervisors, and other school staff
- Measure progress and accomplishments of students towards their academic achievements regularly and provide progress reports as required
- Create and keep records on attendance, accidents, incidents, and other noteworthy events following licensing guidelines and program policies by updating and utilizing Educator’s Handbook.
- Manage student behavior following outlined guidelines and Lincoln Academy Policies
- Meet course and school-wide student performance goals.
- Participate in ongoing training sessions, PLC’s and professional development.
- Maintain current grades.
- Grade papers and perform other administrative duties as needed.
- Participate in the overall growth mindset of Lincoln Academy by being positive and open-minded with peer groups, co-workers, operational teams, administration, and the Board of Trustees.
- Prepare and distribute required reports to the administration team as requested and on time.
- Utilize an effective classroom management system to actively reinforce appropriate student behaviors.
- Be a model of ethical behavior and integrity as a member of the Lincoln Academy team
- Attend twice yearly parent teacher conferences

- Contact parents regarding grade or behavior issues
- Provide accommodations for students
- Submit a ticket
- Submit student for counseling or BCBA for immediate needs
- Classroom reward system
- Purchase supplies with sponsor funds
- Citizenship grades following the rubric
- Get field trip drivers
- Confirm field trip drivers are approved
Required Skills/Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field Required
- Master's Degree in Education or related field Preferred
- Certified Teacher in the State of Utah, or able to obtain certification required
