Job description
As a Teacher Assistant, you will work closely with Educators to provide valuable support and enhance the learning experience for students. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the education field and make a positive impact on young minds.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with lead teachers to assist in classroom management and maintain a conducive learning environment.
- Assist with classroom instruction (substituting when necessary), classroom management, lunch supervision, carpool supervision, and recess supervision
- Provide instructional support by working with small groups of students or individual students to reinforce concepts and facilitate learning.
- Aid in the preparation of instructional materials, including worksheets, handouts, and visual aids.
- Assist in grading assignments, tests, and assessments, and maintain accurate records of student progress.
- Help organize and maintain classroom resources, materials, and equipment.
- Support students with special needs or learning difficulties by implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) or 504s and providing personalized assistance.
- Be engaged in the learning process from roughly 8:00-2:30 each day.
- Maintain open and effective communication with students and colleagues.
- Monitor students during non-instructional periods to ensure their safety and well-being (lunch and recess; maintain order, cleanliness, and safety)
- Participate in professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills in education.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by lead teachers or school administration.
- Provide instruction when the teacher is out of the classroom.
- Model and remind students of the Lincoln dress code and behavior expectations following the guidelines in the Lincoln Academy Policies.
- Lead parents through the carpool process (morning or afternoon as assigned)

- Putting a behavior into educators' handbook
- Decide what appropriate behavior on the playground looks like
- When subbing, modify lesson because of student understanding
- Assign seats in the lunchroom
- Cut recess short because of inclement weather
- If a student needs help or support while a teacher is instructing
- Manage a situation if student safety is of concern
- Bring student to office if a safe school violation occurs
- Refer student for dress code to counselor
- Submit a ticket
- Instruct student behavior and position for safety during carpool.
- Call parents if a student is sick
- Assigning lunch clean-up for student who has left messes
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (a degree in education or relevant field is a plus).
- Previous experience working with students or in an educational setting is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic classroom environment.
- Familiarity with instructional technology and computer skills is desirable.
Schedule
- Unless indicated, schedule will be Monday through Friday, Aprox 28-30 hours per week
Salary
- Pay depends on a combination of Education and Experience
- Hourly starting pay is $13.75 per hour
