MAJOR DUTIES
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION
SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
The Transportation Supervisor assigns work in terms of somewhat general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with instructions and established procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.

Guidelines include department policies and procedures and traffic laws. These guidelines are generally clear and specific but may require some interpretation in application.

JOB SUMMARY
This position operates a transit vehicle to transport passengers.
MAJOR DUTIES
- Performs pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections; reports maintenance and repair needs to supervisor.
- Operates a transit vehicle to transport passengers to and from medical appointments and other locations.
- Uses a mobile data device to accurately record start and stop times, meter readings, etc.
- Picks up and drops off passengers.
- Operates lift equipment to load and unload passengers; assists clients upon request.
- Communicates with Dispatch Team regarding schedule changes.
- Performs minor vehicle maintenance and repair operations as needed.
- Ensures compliance with all traffic laws.
- Fills fuel tank as needed; washes exterior and cleans interior of vehicle.
- Provides information to passengers regarding routes, schedules, and services.
- Completes required paperwork and reports.
- Performs minor janitorial duties as needed.
- Assists with new hire and refresher training upon request.
- Maintains annual trainings such as First Aid and CPR, Defensive Driving, etc..
- Performs related duties.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION
- Knowledge of department guidelines and procedures.
- Knowledge of traffic laws and safe driving techniques.
- Knowledge of area streets and landmarks.
- Skill in the safe operation of an assigned vehicle and equipment.
- Skill in public and interpersonal relations, providing excellent customer service.
- Skill in oral and written communication.

- Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, resolve problems, and provide services.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT
- The work is typically performed while driving a vehicle or while standing, walking, bending, crouching or stooping. The employee frequently lifts light and occasionally heavy objects.
- The work is typically performed in an office, a vehicle, and outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather.
SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
