Position (555.814) Maintenance Technician – Electrician
Permanent, full-time, 12 months, 8 hours per day / benefit eligible

Salary / FLSA / Non-Exempt Grade 65/68 ($3,308.36 - $4,809.07), plus local supplement
The salary for this position will be based on experience, certifications, and licensure, as well as the applicant’s years of service in the NC State Retirement System in the same or similar position. Experience outside of this system may not be recognized for pay purposes. For current Lincoln County School employees, this position will be paid according to the current Lincoln County Schools’ pay scale.

Qualifications / Requirements
|
- High School diploma / GED
- Must be able to pass a drug test, background check, and TB test before starting employment.
- North Carolina electrical experience required
- Must be willing to obtain NC Public School System Electrical License Certification
- Considerable experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems is preferred
- Knowledge of current electrical codes
- Working knowledge of the techniques, methods, tools, and safety precautions of the electrical trade
- Skill in the use of tools, materials, and equipment used in electrical work
- Ability to provide leadership to employees
- Ability to understand and carry out oral or written instructions
- Must be able to perform very heavy work exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to lift objects
- Frequent and high climbing
- Ability to push, pull, stoop, kneel, reach, grasp, talk, hear, climb and crawl
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures; tolerate dust, chemicals and other substances and environmental conditions associated with maintenance work

Duties
|
- Installs, troubleshoots, and repairs electrical equipment and systems, lighting, HVAC systems, ovens, disposals, ranges, electric motors, compressors, electric pumps, etc.
- Plans and completes electrical work for small renovations
- Installs electrical panels, upgrades service for additional electrical requirements, adds additional circuits, and moves electrical receptacles
- Understands and has the ability to work from blueprints, electrical diagrams, or engineer drawings
- Ability to bring electrical systems up to code when required
- Analyzes defects or malfunctions in electrical components for repair or replacement
- Reports outstanding, unsatisfactory, or unsafe work and behavior
- Assists with general maintenance duties when not performing electrical duties
- Willing to be on call in case of emergencies
- Other duties as assigned
