Qualifications and Requirements:
|
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Must obtain/maintain a minimum of a Class B CDL License with P & S endorsements.
- Inventory management experience (Automotive Preferred).
- Technical background as it relates to vehicle operations and maintenance.
- Proficient in the use of the Internet, Microsoft Office & Google Workspace. BSIP experience preferred or data entry experience.
Physical Requirements:
Must be physically able to operate various equipment and machinery, including service trucks, buses, transportation support vehicles, forklifts, etc., and different types of mechanics' equipment; strength, stamina, and mobility to perform medium physical work. Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, reach and climb to perform work. The employee must lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds and heavier with the proper equipment. Physical demand requirements are for medium to heavy work.
- The position requires working in a warehouse/automotive shop environment, including variable temperatures, odors from exhaust, and noises from running engines, air, and electrical tools, which may be unpleasant.

Duties:
|
- Maintains an inventory of repair parts, tires, fuel, and shop supplies to service a fleet of more than 200 vehicles. Monitors inventory of parts/tires/fuel to ensure consumption is recorded, establishing realistic stock levels.
- Research, identify and locate needed vehicle parts through the NC Department of Transportation computer system and various manufacturer's repair parts manuals.
- Use appropriate vendors to secure vehicle parts according to the NC Department of Purchasing and Contract policies and the local board while staying within department budget limitations.
- Verifies parts, fuel, tires, etc., received and examines all invoices for accuracy before approving and submitting to the financial secretary.
- Issues repair work orders (TD-18) with necessary parts to mechanics, ensuring parts are issued out of inventory and appropriated to the mechanic to repair a specific vehicle.
- Processing of daily work orders for vehicle repairs and maintenance using the state BSIP system.
- Conduct annual physical count of all inventory along with monthly inventory inspections and adjustments.
- Manages the warranty and recall program for both school and activity buses.
- Must be able to perform very heavy work exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to lift objects
- Other duties as assigned
