JOB FUNCTIONSESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS are critical and fundamental responsibilities of the position of the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. Within the specialty of the Nurse Practitioner (NP), they are responsible for managing health problems encountered by the client and is accountable for health outcomes. The NP will follow the six standards of practice: Assessment – Collects comprehensive data related to the health of the individual served. Synthesis and analysis of data and application of nursing principles and therapeutic modalities.Diagnosis – Prescribing, dispensing, and administration of therapeutic devices and measures, including legend drugs and controlled substances as provided in Division 56 of the Oregon Nurse Practice Act, consistent with the definition of the psychiatric nurse practitioner’s scope of practice.Outcomes identification – Based on the diagnosis the NP will identify outcomes that are culturally relevant, health literate, based in evidence and promotes the maintenance of health.
