The summer season is fast approaching and the Lincoln County Roads Department is looking to fill several seasonal public works positions to help support the team through the busiest part of the year. The person in this positions will perform general manual tasks on a seasonal temporary basis for road, engineering, fleet maintenance, and building facilities crews while observing safety and traffic rules and laws.Lincoln County Roads Crew at work
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Traffic control or "flagger" for road maintenance functions: Provide directions to motorist.Laborer: Perform heavy manual labor, digging ditches, cleaning and installing culverts or drain tiles, removing obstacles from the roadway and adjacent area, hand loading and unloading all types of material. Perform simple manual work connected with asphalt patching or chip sealing of roadways, repairs guard rail, installs roadway signs, and picks up litter along roadways.Bridge repair: Simple manual work cleaning decks, cutting brush, hand placing rock in gabions, and minor concrete work.Building repair: Manual work in repair and minor maintenance of county buildings including janitorial work, painting, and yard maintenance.Fleet maintenance: Perform simple duties such as washing, waxing and vacuum of various pieces of equipment. May work alongside a mechanic as a helper.Engineering: Work with survey crew on road projects performing duties such as cutting brush, traffic control, rod holder, traffic counts and weighing of trucks.Office: Perform various routine tasks associated with office operation including filing, sorting, data entry, copying etc.
